In April, Ontario’s Primary Care Action Team announced a new funding opportunity to support the expansion of existing primary care teams and the creation of new teams where they are most needed. The initiative aims to ensure that every Ontarian is connected to a primary care team within four years, with additional funding cycles expected.

In response, the RCA released a briefing note emphasizing the value of including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and kinesiologists on interprofessional teams. These professionals can help manage rising patient volumes and ease pressure on primary care providers. The briefing note has been shared via Quorum and circulated directly to Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) and primary care teams invited to apply for this funding.

RCA partners are encouraged to continue sharing this briefing note with OHTs and within their networks as one way to support the inclusion of rehab professionals in new and expanding models of care.
