The RCA is pleased to announce that it is the successful applicant to a Request for Proposal issued by the Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF).

Functional Clinical Outcome Measure(s) for Community Stroke Rehabilitation in Ontario is an initiative to improve community stroke rehabilitation (CSR) across the province. It aims to address the current lack of consistent, valid CSR outcome measures by identifying 1-2 functional measure(s) that are feasible, implementable and deliver value for patients, providers and funders throughout Ontario.

Over the next 12–18 months, the RCA will provide leadership and project management expertise to support this initiative. Key activities will include:

  • Conducting a literature review of current relevant academic and grey literature on clinical outcome measures in rehabilitation as well as on criteria for evaluating outcome measures
  • Undertaking an environmental scan of other jurisdictions that have implemented outcome measures
  • Identifying evaluation criteria and applying use of a Modified Delphi Approach to rank measures based on evaluation criteria
  • Engaging patients, care partners, subject matter experts, and partners across disciplines and regions; and
  • Recommending 1-2 outcome measures that: align with the CSR model of care; enable evaluation of CSR performance; and support future potential funding allocations and accountabilities
