New provincial performance data and ongoing evaluation initiatives are helping strengthen understanding of rehabilitation’s contribution to Ontario’s health care system.

Following the release of the 2024/25 rehabilitative care system performance reports, the RCA has published a new resource, Key Insights: Provincial Rehab System Performance: 2024/25, highlighting key findings that demonstrate rehab’s contribution to health system performance. Drawing on provincial data, the presentation is intended to support discussions with health system leaders, funders, and other partners by providing evidence-informed system-level insights.

The resource highlights rehabilitation’s role in supporting patient flow and health system performance, stable access to inpatient rehabilitation despite increasing demand, strong functional outcomes, workforce pressures and sustainability risks, and the need for continued investment in rehabilitation capacity and integrated care pathways.

In addition, the RCA continues to support the evolution of rehabilitative care system performance measurement. Regional findings have been presented at forums across the province, and partners recently participated in a prioritization survey to help identify opportunities to refine existing measures. Building on this input, the RCA has convened a data strategy working group to support the next phase of rehabilitative care system evaluation and ongoing performance improvement across Ontario.
