The RCA continues to advance its Specialized Rehab initiative, which is informing system-level planning to support equitable access to specialized rehabilitative care across Ontario.

The initiative is examining specialized rehabilitation services for selected populations, including acquired brain injury, amputee, pulmonary, and inpatient stroke rehabilitation. Building on the completion of a provincial guidance document and a current-state assessment of specialized rehabilitation programs, the work has now entered its third phase.

Over the past several months, the RCA has been meeting with individual organizations to review and validate findings of a current-state assessment. These discussions have helped confirm survey findings and provide additional context regarding specialized rehabilitation services across participating organizations.

The next stage of the initiative will involve discussions with rehabilitation vice presidents and directors to review cross-organizational findings, identify common themes, and seek input on system-level implications for regional planning. Findings and regional feedback will ultimately help inform coordinated planning and future discussions regarding specialized rehabilitation services across Ontario.
