Over the past several months, the RCA has shared insights with the Ministry of Health to support workforce planning through two briefing notes. Developed in collaboration with system partners, the first briefing note focused on highlighting key strategies to address rehabilitation workforce challenges. The RCA also worked with Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) University to submit a second briefing note on funding opportunities related to rehabilitation education in Northern Ontario to enhance regional recruitment and retention.

Earlier this year, following extensive consultation, the RCA developed and disseminated a Rehab Nurse Education Needs Survey to organizations to use and adapt with the purpose of identifying educational priorities and factors that may influence workforce retention.

Together, these initiatives will help inform ongoing discussions related to workforce planning, education, and capacity within Ontario’s rehabilitative care system.
