COVID-19 Rehab Data
COVID-19 Rehab Data
Individuals recovering from COVID-19, including those who experience post COVID-19 condition (PCC), may require rehabilitative care to regain function. A number of outpatient rehab programs have been established to meet these needs.
To better understand the profile of people seeking this care, anticipate future demand and aid in planning for health system recovery, the RCA worked with provincial stakeholders on the standardized collection and reporting of publicly funded outpatient COVID-19 rehab program data. This data has informed a “hub and spoke” model of care for PCC outpatient rehab and has been shared with the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health through the RCA’s participation in an Ontario Health Clinical Advisory Committee.
At present, the RCA is also:
- Continuing to meet with providers of publicly funded outpatient COVID-19 rehab programs to monitor wait times, share resources and work towards streamlining access
- Engaging in scholarly activities to elevate the profile of rehabilitative care for PCC in Ontario
- Collaborating as part of a successful Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) grant to support the develop a Canadian long COVID website
- Participating in the University of Toronto COVID-19 Rehab Research Network
- Using Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) data to assess the acute care needs and rehabilitative care usage of individuals following COVID-19
