Capacity planning shifts to COVID-19 focus
Date: July 20, 2020
The RCA’s capacity planning initiative is realigning to assist regions with COVID-19 planning.
The needs-based approach to capacity planning combines best practice guidelines and current evidence with patient feedback to determine future need. The RCA is currently exploring how this approach could help regions as they address the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rehab capacity. The secretariat will be connecting with organizations over the summer months to better understand current and future capacity for community-based rehabilitation.
The RCA will also be drafting a paper with more information on the needs-based approach. This information and associated tools will allow Ontario Health Teams to determine how they might use the capacity planning approach as they design services for their priority populations.
