Oxford Hip Score | Short 12-item patient-reported outcome measure specifically designed to assess function and pain with patients undergoing hip or knee replacement. |
Pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) | Measures pain across the continuum from none to an extreme amount of pain. |
Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) | Segmented numeric version of the VAS in which a respondent selects a whole number from 0-10 that best reflects the intensity of their pain. |

Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) | Questionnaire to assess the patient’s opinion about their hip and associated problems and to evaluate symptoms and functional limitations during a therapeutic process. |
Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) | Questionnaire to assess the patients’ opinion about their knee and associated problems, evaluating both short and long-term consequences of knee injury. |
Patient Specific Functional Scale (PSFS) | Self-report outcome measure of function that can be used in patients with varying levels of independence. |
30 Second Chair Stand Test (30CST) | Tests leg strength and endurance in older adults. Part of the Fullerton Functional Fitness Test Battery. |
Gait Speed | Measures self-paced walking ability and functional capacity. |
Stair Climb Test | Measures functional strength, balance and agility through ascending and descending a set number of steps. |
